Found in early August on landscape boxwoods in western NY (Youngstown) near Canadian border. Five adults taken in Niagara Co. traps in July. Infested plants from Canada were shipped around eastern US. Be vigilant for signs of infestation (see Jen Llewellyn’s (OMAFRA) excellent photos), and report sightings. Caterpillars should be susceptible to many insecticides but coverage within dense canopies can be difficult. Controls include Conserve, pyrethroids labeled for leaf feeding caterpillars, Acelepryn, TriStar/generic, and Leprotec (Bt). Provaunt can be used in landscapes. Outside LI: Mainspring is for landscapes, nurseries; Pradia and Sarisa for nursery settings. Try to avoid spreading boxwood blight when handling/working with boxwoods.
